Bioniworld - The Islands of Bionicle

Mata Nui

matanui.jpg

Mata Nui is where everything started for Bionicle. The coming of the Toa to save the island from Makuta's shadows and to defend the Matoran, the vilagers. Mata Nui is a huge paradise with vast jungles, forrests, moutains, lakes, deserts, and all sorts of nature.
It was hardly an island when the Matoran still lived on Metru Nui, but they had to flee to this land because their city was destroyed. The legend says that Mata Nui (the Great Spirit) brought the Matoran to this new island, and so, they named it after him.
At the beginning, the Rahi seemed to be the only threat to this community, but then followed the Bohrok and later the Rahkshi. The Toa defeated all of the enemies of Mata Nui that were under the influence of Makuta.
The Mask of Light was also found on this island.

Metru Nui

Metru Nui is a huge island city where the Matoran originally came from. It is burried deep underneath Mata Nui and it's surrounded by a enormous silver sea of liquid Protodermis.
The city has been infected by the Morbuzakh for awhile, but more dangers await in it's future. The Toa Metru originated here, and they fought off the island's enemies, from the green vine-like plant all the way to Vahki and even Makuta himself.
Right in the centre of the island lies the huge Coliseum, the source of energy, sports stadium, and home of the Turaga.

Name: Metru Nui

Districts: Ta-Metru, Ko-Metru, Le-Metru, Po-Metru, Ga-Metru, Onu-Metru

Locations:

Archives: The archives of Onu-Metru are a huge library extension that goes under Onu-Metru and beyond. They are a library of the past and present, storing hundreds of Rahi and past objects in stasis tanks and displays.

Assembler's Village: This is where small items, like furniture, are assembled. These little settlements can be found almost anywhere in Po-Metru, but due to the fact that they are scattered among mountains and canyons, they can be very dangerous places to live. They are too many and too far apart for the Vahki to sufficiently protect.

Canyon on Unending Whispers: The Canyon of Unending Whispers is a lonely spot at the edge of Po-Metru—or should I say, was? Now, mysterious activity has been noticed at the Canyon, and nobody knows what’s going on...

Coliseum: A huge, towering building in the middle of the island that is home of Turaga Dume (Dume's Chamber 1), power plant for the city and also home to a large sports arena for Akilini and Vahki training exercises.

Fields of Construction: Part of the Sculpture Fields, where things too big for indoor construction are carved.

Fire Pits: The Fire Pits are huge pits of roaring flame that feed fire into the Great Furnace. They feed the flames into all of the furnaces in Ta-Metru so crafters can melt and forge objects there. The Fire Pits are strictly forbidden and guarded by Nuurakh. This place was also the location of the Ta-Metru Great Disk.

Fountains of Wisdom: Decorative fountains located in Ga-Metru.

Great Furnace: The honor of being the largest furnace in all of Ta-Metru belongs to the Great Furnace, which is so intensely hot that Matoran can only work there for very short periods. The exterior is reddish-black. The main door opens up into a small room used to prepare Matoran for the intense heat of the furnace or for Matoran to take breaks from the heat and labor. Beyond that chamber was the outer ring, a buffer to keep the intense heat from reaching the outer walls of the building. Currently, no one is employed there due to the presence of Morbuzakh vines in the area.

Great Temple: The Great Temple is one of most important sites in Metru Nui, contains the Toa Suva, and is carefully watched over by Vahki Bordakh. It is here that six Matoran travel on a mysterious errand, only to emerge from within as Toa Metru.

Knowledge Towers: Towers of ice that are grown, oddly enough. They fill the district, housing scholars and seers who study the legends and the stars, deciphering the future.
Moto-Hub: A central base in Le-metru that controls the flow of chutes and transportation metru-wide.

Prison of Dark Hunters: This subterranean site is being used by the Dark Hunters to hold their captives. No one knows who may be in there or why the Dark Hunters are taking prisoners at all.

Protodermis Warehouse: Blocks of stone-protodermis and assorted finished parts are stored here, in one of the many warehouses that line Po-Metru. An assembler who needs a specific part can come here to find whatever is required. Unfortunately, the Po-Matoran are not as meticulous about order as Onu-Matoran are, so parts tend to be scattered about and mixed together. It can sometimes take a very long time to find the one specific thing needed for a project.

Sculpture Fields: The sculpture fields is a huge part of Po-Metru where sculptures too big for indoor assembly are built, constructed and packaged so they can be shipped to other Metru.

Test Track: A large track in Le-Metru where they test new machines and vehicles.

Towers of Thought: Towers of Thought are a special class of Knowledge Tower, used for Ko-Metru’s most important projects. Absolute silence is a must for these structures. If you aren’t quiet, there’s always a squad of Keerakh nearby.

Vakama's Foundry: Vakama's working place when he was a Matoran.
